Excerpt:

“I’m not sure I’m ready for that,” Reagan said, running her tongue over her lips as she rested her glass on the counter. “Skiing, that is,” she quickly added. He would never know she’d been thinking of kissing him, but she had to force herself to look away from his mouth. Nudging Naomi, she stood. “It’s time for me to go. I need to settle in. I haven’t even unpacked yet.” And she had no intention of doing so now, but it was a good excuse to leave. She wiped her hands on her jeans before extending her hand to his, praying hers weren’t clammy. “It was great to meet you.”

Garret grasped her proffered hand and nested his other on top, engulfing her hand. She burned. Everywhere. “Meet me on the slopes tomorrow?”

Reagan bit her lip and glanced at the floor. “Tomorrow? I don’t know. I might need a little more time to get used to this place.”

“We’ll start with sledding. You can’t not like sledding.”

She didn’t know, seeing as how she’d never done it, but cozying up to him at a hundred miles an hour would probably be amazing.

“I’m safe,” Garret said as he dropped his hand.

“You’re what?” she asked, meeting his eyes. Maybe he was a good guy in most people’s standards, but he made her heart beat too fast to be anything but dangerous.

“I’m harmless. Several people in town will vouch for me.”

“But I don’t know them either.”

About the Author:

During my senior year in high school, I was dubbed most likely to write a novel because I always had my nose stuck in a book. I would hide my romance novels under my history book until my teacher called me out on it. Writing has been my dream ever since my mother read Brer Rabbit to my sister and me so often that we were able to recite it back to each other before actually learning to read. I love reading about the adventure of love, and getting involved in the legal field developed my love of suspense. I believe love is a mystery that most people have trouble resolving. While I don’t expect we’ll ever solve that mystery, I love to read and write about characters who work to solve their love’s mystery. 1. I love a good romantic suspense. I love the last line, “I’m harmless. Several people in town will vouch for me.”“But I don’t know them either.” - That sounds like something I would say. :)

    1. This was how I branched into romance. :) I used to strictly be horror and mystery then started romantic suspense then moved on from there. Though I always loved the shifters and weres. I just never really branched to find them in the romance section.

    2. hum i started with fantasy then i went in paranormal romance... romantic suspen was discovered really last year but i always watched mystery/thriller series and film with my mother so i often guess the culprit too soon^^

    3. Im guilty of that too. I'm very good at guessing bad guys. My mom says that Id either make a great profiler or a good bad guy.

    4. my mother never though i would make a good bad guy^^ too many scrupules and too emotional for that ^^ she thought i would do a great prosecutor ( if it's the termn in english: the one that leads the accusation at teh tribunal^^)

    5. yes thats the correct term. :) I dont think I'd make a great bad guy either. I dont like hurting people. Maybe like a Robin Hood type though?

    6. ^^ not even sure for a robin hood kind because how could i judge properly? no i prefer to go against the bad guys and then the jury or judge decide so if an error is made it's not my fault as long as i did my job well

    7. Thats very true. I always liked profiling better.

    9. Yup! :) Have you ever heard of the show Leverage? Their sort of a team of robin hoods. Its really good. They take down bad guys. I know that you dont always get the same tv shows over there. It just ended here. It has 5 seasons I believe.

      because i'm interested

  4. LOL, miki, funny enough, I actually work for a prosecutor!

I'd love to know if you guess who my bad guy is, although I don't throw too many in the mix...

miki, this will be available in print, hopefully by Christmas! However, you can always download a free Kindle or Nook app on a computer or any smart phone. Also, it's available on Google and many others ebook sites. I'm actually not sure about a PDF version, but I will try to find that out for you!

You can also buy it and read it without having to download any app at http://www.ebooks.com/1223106/burn-on-the-western-slope/smith-angela/

    Thanks for stopping by!

    2. yes the apps sadly don't work for a lot of people but belive me if a print version exist i really prefer that to a pdf so no worries here ^^ and thank you so much for telling us.
( by the way no smart phone for me, it's still not that common in my country and over expensive and i prefer to get books than a device like that^^)

Does you job give you some idea for this book or past or futur ones or do you prefer to keep your writing carreer really separated from dayjob?

      Delete
    3. Sorry the apps don't work, miki. And sorry for the late response. I did ask my publisher if it was available in .pdf and it isn't at the moment. I hope to have a print version by the end of the year, though.

As far as the day job, I do keep it separate, although I've learned a lot about the legal field and criminology, which is great research. I don't like to use anything related to my work in my stories, though, as interesting as some of it might be. None of the book ideas I've had yet stem from my job, but I definitely get ideas from daily life, even if it's just watching the news. Great question! Thank you!
